WHO IS?
KIM MCLEAR
Kim is a Black and queer first-generation American with family ancestry from Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, and Grenada. Kim served more than 20 years of distinguished public service as a senior officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. She is a former associate professor, engineer, cyber professional, senior policy advisor, and cabinet-level special assistant for the Department of Homeland Security.
Using her voice to dismantle unjust systems, she spent the last decade of her military career on active duty as a prominent public whistleblower.
Kim bravely exposed three of the largest cover-ups of racism, sexual assault, and retaliation in recent U.S. military history, paving the way for new federal legislation and justice for survivors.
She is a former State of the Union guest of honor who has been featured in numerous media outlets from CNN to the New York Times, including a CROWN Act cover issue of Glamour Magazine.

Following the toppling of racist monuments around the world in 2020, Turkish artist Ahmet Ögüt created nine digital monuments to honor those who have stood up to corruption.

Kim infuses music, rhythm, and other sensorial experiences to educate and equip changemakers with courage, curiosity, and compassion to resist oppression, reimagine systems change, and retune our social connectedness.
